Jewish War Veterans, Post 455 (Columbus, Ga.) Records

Scrapbook one contains correspondence, newspaper articles and photographs showing Jewish War Veterans, post 455 commitment to “Operation Martin Army Hospital.” Martin Army Hospital is located at Ft. Benning, GA, seven miles south of Columbus. Members of the organization visited this hospital once a month calling on not less than 100 patients per visit. JWF also provided men, many Vietnam casualties with magazines, homemade cookies, soft drinks, candy, peanuts, peanut crackers and donuts. In other projects, JWV preformed other civic duties to the local community. Scrapbook two is a representative of activities from 1967 – 1968. It contains news clippings, correspondence and photographs many pertaining to the “Prisoner of War Monument.”
