Biographical / Historical
The concept of a Jewish day school in Atlanta became a reality in 1952 with the founding of the Hebrew Academy of Atlanta (later known as the Katherine and Jacob Greenfield Hebrew Academy of Atlanta, or GHA). From a humble beginning, the school grew to an enrollment of over 325. By 1977, it had over 500 students. It was a community day school that provides an education in both general and Judaic Studies in a unique environment that reflected the richness of Jewish life and embraced the diversity of its students. On July 1, 2014, Greenfield Hebrew Academy merged with the Modern Orthodox Yeshiva Atlanta High School to become the lower school of the Atlanta Jewish Academy, based in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
