Biographical / Historical
Helen Goldman was born in Atlanta on July 13, 1927, the daughter of Polish immigrants Jacob and Bluma Goldman. She graduated from Girls' High School in Atlanta and Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. She married Joe Alperin in 1950 and later had three children: Michelle Alperin, Harvey Alperin, and Cheryl Alperin Beer.
As a teenager, Helen was very active in Zionist organizations such as Young Judaea and the Intercollegiate Zionist Federation. She was also a member of the Beth El Congregation.
Later in life she became a talented artist and crafter, and passed away at the age of 89 in Atlanta on June 2, 2016.
