Biographical / Historical

Apex Supply Company started from scraps in 1912 in Atlanta, Georgia. Joseph Rodbell started a scrap business called Capitol Hide and Medal Co. Joseph’s sons, Clyde and Leonard, evolved this business into Apex Plumbing Specialties Co. in the late 1940s and twenty years later, Leonard’s son Sidney, joined the family trade.

For five decades, the Rodbells maintained an impressive reputation in wholesale plumbing/HVAC distribution channels. By the late 1990s, Apex Supply had 21 locations in Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Apex also named “Wholesaler of the Year” by Supply House Times in 1984 and 1998.

This led The Home Depot to take notice and in 1999, they acquired Apex Supply marking the retail giant’s first endeavor into wholesale distribution. Throughout the next decade, Apex continued to provide trusted support under The Home Depot and, later, the HD Supply trade names.

On September 12, 2011, Apex joined Hajoca Corporation.
