Biographical / Historical
Dr. Ronald Goldstein, D.D.S., is a world-renowned dentist specializing in esthetic dentistry. Dr. Goldstein was born on November 1, 1933, in Atlanta, Georgia, to parents Irving and Helen. His father Irving, along with his brother Marvin (uncle to Dr. Ronald Goldstein), were important figures within the Atlanta community in part to their work in the field of dentistry and orthodontics, their mark within the Atlanta hotel business, as well as their impact in the Civil Rights Movement. Along with Dr. Goldstein's work in dentistry, he is an educator, writer, and participant in extensive civic and service organizations. Dr. Goldstein has received numerous awards and recognitions for his professional and philanthropic work. Dr. Ronald Goldstein has been married to Judy Salzberg Goldstein since 1956. The Goldstein's have four children and eleven grandchildren. Dr. Goldstein was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, attended North Fulton High School, served with the US Army Dental Corps from 1954-1956, and graduated from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1957. In 2001, the Emory Dental Alumni Association awarded Dr. Goldstein the Distinguished Alumni Award. Dr. Goldstein is an educator, guest lecturer, and is currently a Clinical Professor of Restorative Sciences at The Dental College of Georgia, Augusta University. Throughout his career, Dr. Goldstein has produced public programming on dental health, initiated and produced research projects, and has written extensively for various publications, books, and magazines, including authoring his own book Change Your Smile. He has been featured on radio shows and television programming for his expertise in esthetic and restorative dentistry, as well his work with notable figures within the entertainment industry. Dr. Goldstein is a fellow of both the American and International College of Dentists, along with an honorable fellow of the Georgia Dental Health Association, and a distinguished practitioner of the National Academies of Practice. Dr. Goldstein was induced into Omicron Kappa Upsilon: The National Dental Honor Society, in 1990 by the Medical College of Georgia. Notable awards received by Dr. Goldstein include: "Outstanding Contribution to Cosmetic Dentistry" by the American Academy of Dentistry in 1992, the Achievement Medal from Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity, and in 2008 was presented the President's Level Lifetime Award from the Medical College of Georgia. The Robb Report "Club 21" added Dr. Goldstein in 1994 to their list of Influential People of Luxury Businesses. Locally, Dr. Goldstein was named to Atlanta Peach "The List" in 2008. Dr. Goldstein has been involved with various forms of philanthropy and social activism including work early in his career in establishing a national program on mental health and mental retardation through the United States Jaycees. He was the founder of the Atlanta Health Council, Inc., and involved with numerous civic, service and fraternal organizations such as: Ahavath Achim Synagogue, Anti-Defamation League, Atlanta USO-JWB, Atlanta Junior Chamber of Commerce, B'nai B'rith, Governor's Committee on Employment of The Emotionally Restored, Jewish Children's Services, Mayor's Committee on Employment of the Handicapped, Metropolitan Atlanta Mental Health Association, and National Association for Mental Health. Dr. Goldstein is on the Scientific Advisory Board for The National's Children's Dental Foundation, as well as the creator of the Tomorrow's Smiles charity which provides dental care for teens in need.
